These are pictures of the trip we took to the Badlands, Black Hills, Fort Laramie and the UPRR Museum in Denver in 2003. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly seeing the variety of places that we visited. We were surprised at some of the sights we saw along the way! And Mt. Rushmore is a place that every American should visit sometime in their life!

The Badlands at last

The requisite tourist pose

Desolate

and beautiful

at the same time

God's creativity has no end

Masters of the land

A rose in the wilderness

Truly awesome

There's just no end

to the variety

A mule-deer grazing

The scout of the prairie

Another of the plain's denizens

Yep we found these guys here too

On to our next stop

We enter another of God's lovely settings

The faces at last!

Another obligatory tourist shot

George Washington

Thomas Jefferson

Teddy Roosevelt

Abraham Lincoln

Drilling marks made while sculpting the monument

The view is fantastic!

They are magnificent

Info about the making of Rushmore

Who took the picture?

A postcard picture

A patriotic display

You bet we like to ride trains

It was a lot of fun

The scenery just never ends

Our host for the ride

South Dakota is rich in other kinds of history

All too soon the ride was over

A wonderful, patriotic show is given every night

A final view of the faces

And yet another citizen of the park

These guys are everywhere

This is fun!

Nothing to it

These caves are a must-see

Bighorn sheep are even more magnificent up close

A remnant of the old west

1880s barracks

Not exactly Four Star accomodations

Officers always have it better

This was not the place to stay!

A true piece of American history

The UPRR museum

Michael is in heaven here!

This was our last stop before heading home
